Overcast Matte Collection from CDB Lacquer Swatch and Review

Greetings and Nailutations!

Today I am sharing the Overcast Matte Collection releasing Friday August 21st from CDB Lacquer.  This collection contains 5 muted bright matte colors.  The inspiration Cheyenne used was how bright colors have a muted look while the weather is overcast.  They all dry to a matte finish which is slightly textured.  I have 2 of the colors with no matte top coat and I also show them with a shiny top coat.

Now let's get to some swatches!

First up is Hazy Pink, a pinky magenta with silver shimmer matte polish.  What I love about this polish is that in the matte form, it's a dusty pink, but add a shiny top coat and BOOM - the brightness is evident!  Formula was easy to apply and photos show 2 coats with matte top coat (1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th photos) and shiny top coat (5th, 6th and 7th photos).

The next polish is called Gloomy Green, which is a green (slight hint of teal) matte polish with silver shimmer.  Again formula was easy to work with and applied perfectly.  Photos show 2 coats with no top coat to demonstrate the original finish (1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th photos) and shiny top coat (6th, 7th, 8th and 9th photos).

My favorite of the 5 is Shady Purple (because it's purple...I can't help it!).  Shady Purple is a deep purple matte polish with silver shimmer.  It applied perfect.  Photos show 2 coats with no top coat (1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th photos) and shiny top coat (5th, 6th, 7th and 8th photos).

Somber Orange is a yellow-orange matte polish with silver shimmer.  This polish is slightly more texture than the rest of the collection.  This color is perfect for fall and I can see several plaid designs used with this as the base.  Somber Orange applied easily and photos show 2 coats with matte top coat (1st, 2nd and 3rd photos) and shiny top coat (4th, 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th photos).

The last polish in the Overcast Matte Collection is Dreary Red is a dusty red matte polish with silver shimmer.  It applied like a dream and photos show 2 coats with matte top coat (1st, 2nd and 3rd photos) and shiny top coat (4th, 5th and 6th photos).

Loves: I love this inventive collection idea.  My favorite of the collection is Shady Purple, but I also loved Hazy Pink with shiny top coat and I loved Somber Orange with matte top coat.  The formula on all were easy to apply.  This is important because most mattes dry very quickly and are difficult to work with and this collection was not like that at all.  All of CDB Lacquer products are 5-free as well, so they don't contain 5 of the harsh chemicals that can be found in polish.

Wishes: Wow.  I think I may have a new love for matte finishes!  I hope she comes out with more colors (black, grey, white, a true orange).

Happy Polishing,
